Charleston upholds its reputation as the city of charm and grace with a long tradition of coffee and coffeehouses.  Tea, too, but this book is mostly about coffee.  There's a tea grown in Charleston, and a tea room Charleston's coffee roasting tradition started early.where you can get it hot, in a scrumptious English manor setting.  But...  this book is about coffee.  And coffeehouses.  The coolest array of places, where you can savor your café - au lait or not - in Charleston's historic downtown.  A coffeehouse is the kind of thing you relate to better if you can see, so this book takes you to more than twenty establishments, in pictures.  Alas, you can't smell the coffee, as scratch and sniff technology hasn't aromatherapied the web.  Yet..  The book's 175 black and white illustrations and accompanying text let you in on the where to park and how to get around.  There's also a map, an index by street name, and an alphabetized directory.

Here's a small sampling in color of photos from the book.

Coffee Experience: Charleston South Carolina is supported by that most wondrous of marketing traditions: promo stuff.  There's a fabulous signed poster featuring the cover image, not to mention the author's name in huge type.  Well, it's sweet anyway.  The 18x24 color poster is available direct from AmiGadget Press (where you're reading this webpage) for $5.00, which includes packing and mailing within the United States.  Send check or moneyorder (not cash!) to the address at the top of this page.  The posters are signed by the book's author.

You can buy the book direct, too.  Or just go forth naked - i.e., sans guidebook - and enjoy the coffee.

No way this is all the coffeehouses, nor even all that're cool.  Sweet, as the case may be.  The book suggests further exploration - in case your coffee fetish isn't even yet satisfied - of the many cool places in Mount Pleasant, West Ashley, and the islands.  More exploring, more coffee, for sure, but also more likely to have free and easy parking.  Here are some images to spark exploration.

Speaking of parking...A parking ticket! (alas, this one is genuine) Your best bet's the public parking lots.  Cheaper than parking tickets, and much less hassle.
