Chair Man Photograph on watercolor paper 2001 The original for this image is a 35mm black and white negative I got in Myrtle Beach, SC, around 1978. I stayed in a hotel on the beach, and noticed this man sunning himself on a lawn chair he set up in the hotel's parking lot, rather than on the beach itself. The picture's odd perspective derives from the use of a long telephoto (400mm) lens. Years later, I came across the print, scanned it into the computer, and created this abstraction with a variety of Photoshop filters and other techniques. The resulting image is very tightly cropped from the original. Canon F-1 camera, 400mm telephoto. Tri-X film rated ISO 320, outdoor afternoon daylight. |
