Takes out the trash when the can gets full

  Here, kitty, kitty.

Puddy Tat posing by the fenceAlways a cat person, I'm currently catless. My most recent kitty was Puddy Tat, a beautiful seal point Siamese who wandered up one day and stayed. PuddyTat departed unceremoniously ten Novembers ago, never to be heard from since. Puddy Tat and me, we went through a great deal of fried chicken together, and a nasty mishap with a neighbor's car in which poor Puddy Tat lost an eye.

The picture shows Puddy Tat hard at work, being a cat, thinking up ways to justify another nap. Puddy Tat had the run of the place, claimed it for himpersonalself pretty much, especially the computer desk. He napped on my desk in front of the keyboard and swished his tail when disturbed by such uncatlike activities as typing and moving the computer mouse. At night, he slept on my feet, which was way welcome in the winter but somewhat of an imposition in warmer months.

JellicoMy humble (to say the least) Three Fountains abode usually had one or more proper porch cats dropping by for snacks. Puddy Tat brought me this one, whom I named Jellico. Puddy Tat is the only cat I know who kept a pet porch cat. Jellico apparently moved on to a more gourmet porch. That is, he disappeared. Are we seeing a trend here? This is His Orange Highness munching Original Flavor, hanging out on the porch.

Jay's Cat Pictures

My cats being gone, all gone, I console myself with mere pictures of cats, some local, and some from the far reaches of the Hondacar's universe - about two days' drive. The most catworthy place I've found has been Key West, home for a while to His Exalted Authorness Ernest Hemingway. His wife's elegant house there, now a Hemingway shrine, still houses multitudinous people of the cat persuasion. Ernie, the tour guide explains, was a cat person, and kept twenty of them. Some of the cats that hang out around the place are descendents of original six-toed Hemingcats. Wooooo-ooooo-ooooo. The most famous of the famed is a grey one named (brace yourself) Zane.
